The Tecsun PL-360 is an incredibly functional shortwave radio at this price point. It makes us wonder how Tecsun managed to offer so much at such a low price tag.

It does shortwave, AM, FM, and comes with a patented ETM (Easy Tuning Mode) that scans and finds audible stations for you which you can then flip through. This one feature itself would make this radio worth buying for many users.

The sound is great too, and so is the reception across SW, AM and FM.

This description itself should convince you to buy the PL-360 given its price but here’s a more detailed review if it doesn’t.

“Real” Shortwave radio

Some may not expect a real shortwave radio at this price, but we bet the PL-360 would surprise you. Scanning the SW band would be a breeze thanks to the ETM (Easy Tuning Mode). Every time you run this feature your location will be automatically updated, and also when there’s a change in antennas.

It loads tons of stations in no time just using its whip antenna, which is impressive to say the least.

The FM is decent, although the AM has its own limitations. Overall, they deliver what you would expect at this price.

Great, Clear Sound

You would be surprised what the PL-360’s tiny speaker can produce in terms of the sound. It’s loud, it’s clear, and it sounds surprisingly good with a decent headphone.

The sound is great across all the three bands, although using different earphones or headphones would achieve different results in terms of the overall sound quality.

But from a shortwave radio that you can fit into your pocket, the sound is probably as good as it can get, especially at this price.

Tecsun Pl 360 Shortwave RadioOther Features

First things first, the PL-360 also includes a quality external AM antenna, stereo earphones, soft antenna, carrying pouch and comes with a built-in battery charger. That’s a lot in extras right there at this price.

The PL-360 can be charged using 3 AA batteries (not included) and also using your computer as you can connect it to your PC using the USB cord it comes with. Similarly, you can also use rechargeable batteries with this radio.

The ease of use is great and all the features are easy to access. There’s a signal indicator as well that makes it handy to set the antenna properly to make sure you get the best signal.

The scanning is easy and quick, and the memory is handy. The stations the radio pulls using the ETM scanning is only stored on the temporary memory so they won’t be stored to your saved stations.

  • Amazing value given the cheap price
  • Shortwave works great with impressive reception, and the AM and FM reception is reasonably good too with some tweaking
  • Sound is surprisingly good for its size and price
  • Includes an external AM antenna and a soft antenna, and also stereo earphones and a carrying pouch, without charging you a penny more than its already cheap price tag
  • It’s very easy to use with all the features being easy to find and access
  • Few different charging options, including charging using your computer thanks to the USB cable it comes with
  • Alarm clock is easy to set and there are many time choices for the auto off timer
  • Super portable and lightweight

  • The build quality isn’t the best so you will have to use it with some care and make sure you don’t drop it on concrete floor

You might find a couple more features to not be as impressive, but remember what you’re paying for this little beast and you will feel guilty complaining about it.

Tecsun PL-360 Review Conclusion

The Tecsun PL-360 is an incredible little shortwave radio with pretty much everything a shortwave radio can have at this price and size. The shortwave works really well, and the sound is great across SW, AM and FM.

The user interface is responsive and the features are easy to access. The ETM is one of its best features that would save you a lot of tedious searching, giving it a big edge over other comparable radios.
